Authentic Experience in Sustainable Tourism: The Role of Geographical Indication (PDO/PGI)

Q33
Faculty of Business and Economics

The Faculty of Business and Economics at Mendel University in Brno invites students to join a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) focused on authentic experiences in sustainable tourism and the role of Protected Designations of Origin and Protected Geographical Indications (PDO/PGI).

The programme combines an online session with a five-day face-to-face programme in Brno. Participants will explore how geographical indications can contribute to regional identity, support local producers, strengthen destination development and create authentic visitor experiences. The programme includes lectures, workshops, case studies, teamwork and field trips.

Students will work together to develop their own tourism product concept based on knowledge gained during the programme and insights collected through field research. They will also have an opportunity to engage directly with local producers and destinations while learning more about sustainable tourism, destination marketing and innovative tourism product development. The programme concludes with final presentations of the participants’ tourism product proposals.

The BIP is designed for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students and is worth 3 ECTS credits.
