The process of Verification is connected to one specific admission procedure. During this process, the faculty/university verifies the completion of previous foreign education (secondary school, university – Bachelor, Master) legally required for admission to studies at higher education institution. The second possibility to prove the completion of previous foreign education is the nostrification.

Applicants for admission to Bachelor‘s study programmes

Applicants prove completion of their foreign secondary school education which gives them the right to start a Bachelor’s study programme in the country under legal regulations of which the education was obtained. The required authenticated documents must be provided in hard copies. Documents of applicants to Bachelor’s study programmes will be verified at the faculty the applicant applies to.

  • Study applicants who graduated from European Schools submit a completed application form and an authenticated copy of a European Baccalaureate. This does not apply to the International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma).
  • Following international agreements the Czech Republic made, study applicants from Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Poland and Slovenia submit an authenticated copy of a document proving the completion of their foreign secondary education (Secondary School Certificate etc.) which was issued under the agreement. The applicant may be invited to provide authenticated copies of documents describing the content and scope of their foreign secondary education and other documents connected to their foreign secondary education.
  • Study applicants who graduated from foreign secondary school in other countries submit a completed application form, an authenticated copy of a document proving the completion of their foreign secondary education (Secondary School Certificate etc.) and authenticated copies of documents describing the content and scope of their foreign secondary education. The applicant may be invited to provide other documents connected to their foreign secondary education.
  • In case study applicants hold the so called “Nostrification Certificate” issued in the Czech Republic (“Osvědčení o uznání rovnocennosti zahraničního středoškolského vzdělání“), they will submit a completed application form, an authenticated copy of the “Nostrification Certificate” (“Osvědčení o uznání rovnocennosti zahraničního středoškolského vzdělání“) and an authenticated copy of a “Decision on Nostrification” (“Rozhodnutí o uznání rovnocennosti zahraničního středoškolského vzdělání“).

Applicants for admission to the follow-up Master‘s and Doctoral study programmes

Applicants prove completion of their foreign university (higher) education which gives them the right to start a follow-up Master’s/Doctoral study programme in the country under legal regulations of which the education was obtained. The required authenticated documents must be provided in hard copies. Documents of applicants to follow-up Master’s study programmes will be verified at the faculty the applicants applied to. Documents of applicants to Doctoral study programmes will be verified at the Department for Education, Rector’s Office of MENDELU.

  • Following international agreements the Czech Republic made, study applicants from Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia submit an authenticated copy of a document proving the completion of their foreign university education (Diploma, Degree Certificate etc.) which was issued under the agreement, and authenticated copies of documents describing the content and scope of their foreign university education (official list of subjects passed – Diploma Supplement / Transcript of Records). The applicants may be invited to provide other documents connected to their foreign university education.
  • Study applicants who gained their university education in other countries submit a completed application form, an authenticated copy of a document proving the completion of their foreign university education (Diploma, Degree Certificate etc.) and authenticated copies of documents describing the content and scope of their foreign university education (official list of subjects passed – Diploma Supplement / Transcript of Records). The applicants may be invited to provide other documents connected to their foreign university education.

TRANSLATIONS:

In case the documents proving foreign education are not written in Czech, Slovak or English language, the study applicant must provide an official sworn translation to Czech or English language along with the authenticated copies.

AUTHENTICATION:

The level of authentication is given by international agreements between the Czech Republic and other countries. The required level of authentication depends on which country it is from.

Other possibly required documents:
  • An attorney can act on behalf of the study applicant in case they provide a Letter of attorney. The Letter of attorney must be signed by both the study applicant and the attorney. No authentication is required.
  • Study applicant must provide an authenticated copy of a document proving their change of name in case the name on the documents proving the completion of their foreign education does not correspond with their present name (changed surname after marriage etc.).
  • In case the study applicant is under international protection, they provide an authenticated copy of a document proving the award of the protection.
VERIFICATION FEE:

Verification of previous foreign education for the purpose of admission is charged. The fee is 900 CZK and it will be paid to the respective faculty (to the Rector’s office in case of study applicants to Doctoral study programmes). The study applicant will be invited to make the payment.

APPEAL:

It is not possible to appeal against the result of verification. Applicants can provide Nostrification Certificate instead.
