Verification of previous foreign education for the purpose of admission procedure

The process of assessing prior foreign education serves as a one‑time verification of the fulfilment of one of the admission requirements – attainment of the level of education required by law (secondary or higher education – bachelor’s or master’s level), which is a condition for admission to the selected degree programme. The nostrification process is conducted separately.

Applicants for bachelor’s degree programmes

Applicants must demonstrate completion of foreign secondary education which, in the country where it was obtained, entitles them to enrol in a bachelor’s degree programme. The required educational documents must be submitted as an officially certified copy or an authorised conversion. Documents of applicants for bachelor’s studies will be assessed by the faculty to which the applicant has submitted the application.

• If the applicant has obtained a certificate of recognition of foreign secondary education through the so‑called nostrification process in the Czech Republic, they shall submit this certificate.
• Applicants who have obtained the European or International Baccalaureate shall submit the relevant Baccalaureate certificate.
• Applicants who have completed secondary education in a country with which the Czech Republic has concluded an equivalence agreement (Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Slovenia) shall submit a certificate of completed secondary education.
• Applicants who have completed foreign secondary education in other countries shall submit an application for assessment of education and a certificate of completed secondary education. The faculty may request additional documents related to the applicant’s prior foreign education. The assessment of education is subject to a fee of CZK 900. The applicant will be asked to pay the fee.

Applicants for follow‑up master’s and doctoral degree programmes

Applicants must demonstrate completion of foreign higher education which, in the country where it was obtained, entitles them to enrol in a master’s or doctoral degree programme. The required educational documents must be submitted as an officially certified copy or an authorised conversion. Documents of applicants for follow‑up master’s studies will be assessed by the faculty to which the applicant has submitted the application. Documents of applicants for doctoral studies will be assessed by the Department for Education of the Rector’s Office.

• If the applicant has obtained a certificate of recognition of foreign higher education through the so‑called nostrification process in the Czech Republic, they shall submit this certificate.
• Applicants who have completed higher education in a country with which the Czech Republic has concluded an equivalence agreement (Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Slovenia) shall submit a certificate of completed higher education.
• Applicants who have completed foreign higher education in other countries shall submit an application for assessment of education, a certificate of completed higher education, and a transcript of completed courses, i.e., a diploma supplement or an equivalent document. The faculty may request additional documents related to the applicant’s prior foreign education. The assessment of education is subject to a fee of CZK 900. The applicant will be asked to pay the fee.

Translations

All documents not issued in Czech, Slovak or English must be submitted together with an official translation into Czech or English.

Additional possible documents

• If the applicant is represented by an authorised agent, they must submit a power of attorney. Official certification of signatures is not required.
• If the applicant has changed their name, they must submit a document proving this change.
• If the applicant is under international protection, they must submit a document proving this status.
