Testing VR Application at Mendel University: Innovation in Water Education

3. 12. 2025
During the international Thematic Lecture „DIGITALISATION AND NATURE-BASED-SOLUTIONS FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT“ event for water management experts, organized by the CREA Hydro&Energy cluster, experts tested a new VR application focused on teaching about natural and artificial watercourses. The app was developed by the Spatial Hub team (Faculty of Business and Economics) and the Institute of Applied and Landscape Ecology (Faculty of AgriSciences).

The project involves FBE, FA, FRDIS, and the Institute of Lifelong Learning of Mendel University in Brno. Its aim is to integrate modern technologies into education in water management and landscape planning.

At the same time, an external peer review of the Centre of Vocational Excellence Water Central Europe took place, with representatives of all partners: MENDELU, CREA Hydro&Energy, Lipka, SPŠS Kudelova, and Women Engaged for Common Future (WECF). The evaluation was highly positive, confirming the importance of collaboration and innovation in education.

“Our team at Mendel University did an excellent job, Lipka brought inspiring educational approaches, and WECF excelled in Germany. Most of all, I am thrilled by the remarkable progress in knowledge and skills among high school students from the Brno Secondary School of Civil Engineering, who actively participated and are developing great potential for the labor market,” emphasized Michaela Menšíková, project leader of PoVE Water Scale-up at MENDELU and regional captain of the Centre of Vocational Excellence Water for Central Europe.
