MENDELU to lead international project supporting innovation in precision medicine

12. 6. 2025
Mendel University in Brno has been awarded a prestigious grant from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to implement an international project focused on fostering innovation in the field of precision medicine, titled InnovPrecMed. The project will involve close collaboration between the Faculty of AgriSciences, the Faculty of Business and Economics, and the Technology Transfer Office.

As the coordinating institution, MENDELU will lead a consortium of European universities, research institutes, and businesses in building an advanced, deep tech innovation ecosystem. The project aims to strengthen research, education, and business development capacities in the field of precision medicine by enhancing the quality and competitiveness of partner higher education institutions (HEIs). This will be achieved through institutional and systemic changes – such as strengthening staff capacities, developing new structures for innovation, knowledge, and technology transfer, supporting business creation, and fostering collaborations with other HEIs and industry partners across consortia.

Key Objectives of the InnovPrecMed Project:

  1. Development of training courses in Deep Tech science and innovation:
    • Deep Tech Precision Medicine courses for business and economics practitioners
    • Business and innovation courses in company set up and building for Deep Tech Precision Medicine practitioners;
  2. Support for Innovation and Commercialization:
    • Drive the scale-up support of at least 12 partner companies and launch at least 2 new start-up companies delivering solutions for the emerging Precision Medicine industry sector;
  3. Ecosystem Development:
    • Strengthen the consortium’s innovation environment through expanded partnerships and tools.

The InnovPrecMed project will be implemented from April 1, 2025, to April 30, 2027.
