MENDELU is the first Czech university which received HR Excellence in Research Award.
Mendel University in Brno was awarded the prestigious HR Award in the field of human resources as the first Czech university. According to Rector of Mendel University in Brno, Danuše Nerudová, this certificate can attract even more foreign scientists and researchers to come to our university. This award also increases the overall prestige of the Mendel University in Brno.
PROCESS INFORMATION ABOUT THE OBTAINING HR AWARD
On 6 October 2017, Mendel University in Brno subscribed to the principles enshrined in the European Charter for Researchers and in the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
The aim of the University was to obtain the HR AWARD Certificate, which is awarded by the European Commission to research institutions that implement the HRS4R Strategy (The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) based on the above principles.
The University prepared an internal GAP analysis aimed to compare current practice at the University with the Charter and the Code; at the same time, an Action Plan (AP) for the process of implementing the measures aimed at satisfying the principles enshrined in the Charter and in the Code was prepared. The GAP analysis included a questionnaire survey among University staff.

The implementation of HRS4R takes place within the framework of the OP RDE Project The Development of Research and Development Capacities at Mendel University in Brno CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_028/0006175, whose Key Activity 1 is to set up the strategic management of a research organisation in accordance with the conditions for obtaining the HR Award. The Project has been in progress since 1 March 2018 under the leadership of Vice-Rector Vojtěch Adam; the guarantor of Key Activity 1 is Vice-Rector Jitka Janová.
The European Charter for Researchers is a set of general principles and requirements that clarify the role, responsibilities and rights of researchers and their employers. The aim of the Charter is to ensure that relations between researchers and employers contribute to success in the development, transfer, sharing and dissemination of knowledge and technical development and in the development of researchers’ careers. The Charter also acknowledges the value of all forms of mobility that are used to improve work development of researchers. In this regard, the Charter provides a framework for researchers, employers and investors, which encourages them to responsible professional activities in their working environment and to mutual recognition. The Charter is intended for all researchers in the European Union at all levels of career.
